This advanced fluorescence technology treats unwanted hair by eliminating hundreds of follicles. Several treatments and follow-ups may be necessary to disable the hair follicle that subsequently enters the growth phase. Please note our laser does not safely treat Fitzpatrick type V and above.

Pre-Treatment Instruction

Post Treatment Instruction

  • Refrain from waxing/ tweezing/ plucking, sugaring, electrolysis for at least 2 to 4 weeks before treatment because hair follicles that do not have hair shafts attached to absorb the energy will not be effectively treated. You may shave the area as often as needed.

  • A mild sunburn-like sensation is expected and usually lasts less than 1 hour (rarely up to 72 hrs). Mild swelling usually resolves quickly as well. A non-steroidal such as ibuprofen or naproxen (Motrin, Aleve), or Tylenol can be used but is rarely needed. Feel free to apply cold gel packs as well.
  • Shave or closely clip the area to be treated 4-24 hrs before treatment. This allows you to shape the exact area you want to be treated and eliminates excess hair on the surface which would absorb and effectively waste some of the energy delivered (reducing the amount that reaches the hair root where it is really needed).
  • Bathe or shower as usual. Avoid aggressive scrubbing including loofah sponges. The appearance of hair growth/stubble may continue post-treatment, usually for no more than 2-3 weeks. This is not necessarily new hair growth. Treated hairs require time to be shed from the skin. At the 2 to 3-week point, you should notice less regrowth in the region that was treated.
  • Do not use self-tanning products or have spray tans done during your treatment series

  • Follow-up treatments are usually at 4 to 12-week intervals (see chart below).

  • Avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks prior to and post-treatment.

  • Age, ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, prescription medication, and metabolism all affect how your hair grows and responds to laser hair removal.
  • If you have a history of herpes (cold sores) in the area to be treated, notify us.

  • Use sunblock and avoid shaving, swimming, or hot tub/Jacuzzi use while the area is irritated. Shaving or depilatory creams (ex: Nair) are OK between sessions. Remember not to tweeze/pluck/wax/sugar, etc.

Q & A

How does laser hair removal work?

Today’s laser hair removal technology uses light or laser energy to safely remove unwanted hair and prevent new hair from growing back so you don’t have to keep shaving or waxing. Laser and light treatments target your hair follicles to destroy the hair at its root and stop the follicle from producing new hair. The energy from the laser penetrates below the surface of your skin to target the hair follicle, leaving your skin unharmed.

As your hair follicle is destroyed and it’s unable to grow new hair, you’re left with smooth skin and less hair. Hair grows in stages and laser hair removal technology is most effective when your hair is in the growth stage. To ensure maximum hair removal results, you’ll most likely need a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart.

Once your treatments are complete, you’ll enjoy smooth, hair-free skin, with permanent results.*

What areas of my body can I treat with laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is effective on nearly every area of your body where you’d like to get rid of unwanted hair, including:

  • Legs and arms
  • Back
  • Chest and stomach
  • Face
  • Bikini area
  • Underarms

The experienced team of master aestheticians at Skin Serenity Medispa provides laser hair removal services for men and women who want to eliminate embarrassing, unwanted hair. It’s ideal for anyone who wants to reduce the time it takes each day to shave, and it means you can be beach-ready or vacation-ready any time of the year.

What does laser hair removal feel like?

Most people compare the sensation of the laser to the snap of a rubber band — a feeling that’s easily tolerated. If you’re concerned about comfort, your aesthetician can provide a topical numbing cream to minimize the snap of the laser energy.

Depending on the treatment areas, such as your underarms or upper lip, laser hair removal takes just a few minutes, so any discomfort is temporary. Your legs take longer, but in the end, the results are worth it. You won’t have to worry about razor bumps, rash, or skin irritation once you achieve your desired hair-free results with laser hair removal treatments.

If you want a permanent solution to shaving, waxing, and other temporary hair removal methods, call Skin Serenity Medispa to schedule a laser hair removal appointment or book online.
