ZO Medical Stimulator Peel - $80
This potent stimulating peel delivers longer lasting benefits beyond, superficial improvements seen with ordinary downtime. Peeling is very mild or even unnoticeable with this treatment. It is designed for acne, melasma, sun damage, fine lines, rough texture, large pores and overall dullness.
Chemical peels use different types of chemical solutions to improve the tone, texture, and overall appearance of your skin by removing the outer layers that were damaged by the sun, acne scars, or as part of the normal aging process. Your aesthetician applies the selected chemical solution to your face and it exfoliates your skin. As a result, the damaged layers peel off to reveal a newer, healthier layer of skin that aging, acne, or sun damage hasn’t affected yet.
The type of chemicals your aesthetician uses for the chemical peel determine how many layers of skin peel off. Depending on your skin problems, you can get a superficial or medium chemical peel at the spa. After the Skin Serenity Medispa team examines your skin, they recommend the most effective type of peel that will deliver the most dramatic improvements.
Deep chemical peels are reserved for serious skin problems, including precancerous cells, and often require a local anesthetic and sedation since they penetrate deep into the layers of your skin. You typically receive a deep chemical peel in a doctor’s office under carefully monitored conditions. Recovery time after a deep peel can take several months.
Superficial chemical peels are the lightest type of peel and are sometimes referred to as a “lunchtime” peel. The ingredients in superficial peels work well to correct dry skin, areas of uneven pigmentation, and fine lines, and usually consist of alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids like glycolic acid, lactic acid, and salicylic acid. This type of peel lightly exfoliates the outermost layer of your skin, leaving you with a healthy glow and minimal or no downtime.
Your skin may be red immediately following treatment, like a mild sunburn, but the redness typically disappears as your skin heals. You can usually wear moisturizer and makeup afterward, and it may take 3-5 superficial peels to deliver the desired results.
A medium chemical peel goes a bit deeper than a superficial peel and can improve the appearance of deeper wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin tone. Medium peels usually contain glycolic acid or trichloroacetic acid which removes the outer layer of your skin plus part of the next deeper layer. Your skin may be red and swollen for up to 48 hours after a medium peel, and then it crusts and the top layers peel off.
Your master aesthetician at Skin Serenity Medispa advises you on how to care for your skin after a chemical peel so you get long-lasting results and help prevent future damage to your rejuvenated facial skin.
